General IELTS Writing Task 1 Model Example

Dear Sir,

I am writing to bring to your attention a concerning situation that has been occurring in our neighbourhood. Recently, a group of adolescents has been allowing their dogs to run wildly through the streets and parks, creating a potentially dangerous environment for residents.

This reckless behaviour has caused several near-accidents, particularly with young children and elderly individuals who frequent the area. Last week, I witnessed a particularly alarming incident where a large dog, off its leash, chased a child who was cycling. The child fell off the bike and fortunately escaped with only minor injuries, but the situation could have been much worse.

The safety of our community is paramount, and such irresponsible actions are wholly unacceptable. I believe it is imperative that these adolescents are made aware of the potential dangers their actions pose. I urge you to take appropriate measures to address this issue, such as increasing patrols in the area, enforcing leash laws more strictly, and possibly organising a community meeting to discuss the importance of responsible pet ownership.
