  • 150 word response to a situation.

For IELTS General Training writing task 1 you need to write a letter:

  • Responding to a given situation
  • Explaining a situation
  • Requesting information

Depending on the situation the letter can be:

  • Informal or personal
  • Semi-formal
  • Formal

Marks

1 to 9 on 4 assessment criteria:

  1. Task Achievement
  2. Cohesion and Coherence
  3. Lexical resources
  4. Grammatical Accuracy and Range
