General IELTS Writing Task 1/ IELTS Letter:
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
You have borrowed something from your friend and it got damaged. Write a letter to a friend. In your letter:
Write at least 150 words.
You do NOT need to write your own address.
Hi Liu,
I hope you’re doing well. I need to apologise for damaging your professional camera that I borrowed last week. I feel absolutely terrible about it and wanted to explain what happened.
While I was out taking photos at the nearby park , I tripped and dropped the camera. At first, it looked fine, but then I noticed a crack in the lens and the autofocus isn’t working right anymore. I know how much this camera means to you, and I’m really sorry for being so careless with it.
I’ve already contacted a good repair shop that specialises in professional cameras. They said they can fix the lens and the autofocus. I’ll cover all the costs, of course. If the repair doesn’t turn out well, I’m ready to replace the lens or even the whole camera if needed.
Again, I’m really sorry about this. Thanks for understanding, and let me know if there’s anything else I can do to make it right.
Best,

Dear Stephen,
I really need to apologize to you for the damage to your laptop screen, it happened last week as I was using it in the lecture room for the preparation of my test one of my classmates mistakenly sat on it.
I know how important it is to you for your online classes, so I have made an arrangement with the technician that will fix it .
damaged of the screen. Although when i power it on, it shows some lines on the screen, but they are currently working on it Last week during my ielts class one of my classmates was trying to answer a question in the classroom when he stood up, he has forgotten that the laptop is beside him and mistakenly sat on it which led to the.
I have taken it to a repair shop and the technician said the damage has affected Its Pannel that the Panel can be repaired but I told them to replace the panel and the screen with the new one which will take estimated time of one week before it will get done.
I know how important the laptop is to you, especially since your final examination is approaching. I hope you understand the situation. Once again,
I am truly sorry for the inconvenience.
Regards
Niyi
Hello Enisan,
This generally a good email. Still there are some issues:
I know how important it is to you for your online classes, so I have made an arrangement with the technician that will fix it . damaged of the screen. This is a bit fragmented and needs to be connected
I is always with a Capital letter not small i.
you are not using punctuation here: working on it Last week you need a ‘.’
it which led to the.???
There are other issues with punctuation and connecting of sentences
You also go a bit too deep in the details of the accident, which is not really needed, use your word count for other parts of the email.
you have a lot of fragmentation and your sentences do not connect really well, and you have issues with punctuation. Your language is really well, it is the structure that is the main issue.
If you want me to look a bit deeper, you can always send it to me and I can give you Full feedback: https://ieltsassistance.co.uk/correction-service/#fullwritingcorrection
I hope that helps
