The diagrams below illustrate the current layout of the airport site and its planned appearance after redevelopment next year. The development plan for Southwest Airport shows a significant expansion and improvement in facilities. Overall, the redevelopment reflects a significant upgrade, aligning the airport with contemporary standards.
Currently, the airport has a straightforward layout with eight gates (1-8), a café, and essential services like security, passport control, and customs. The departure and arrival sections are side by side, with minimal amenities.
The new design introduces a more complex structure with 18 gates (1-18), divided into three branches for better passenger flow. Key additions include a bag drop area (B), an ATM, a sky train system for easier navigation, and a car hire service. The number of cafés is retained, while shops are added near the walkway, providing retail opportunities for travellers. The check-in area (C) and security/passport control remain central but are more efficiently organised. The introduction of the sky train and car hire facilities caters to modern traveller needs.
