General IELTS Writing Task 1/ IELTS Letter:
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
You travelled by a long distance bus recently and your suitcase was damaged. Write a letter to the bus company. In your letter
You should write at least 150 words.
You do NOT need to write any address.
Begin your letter as follows:
Dear…,
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to bring to your attention an issue I experienced during a recent trip with your bus company. On July 15th, I travelled from Manchester to London on one of your long-distance buses, departing at 9:00 AM.
Upon arriving in London, I was dismayed to find that my suitcase had been significantly damaged during the journey. The suitcase, a large black Samsonite model with distinctive red stripes, had one of its wheels completely broken off and several deep scratches and dents across its surface. This damage rendered it almost unusable for further travel.
Given the nature of the damage, it is evident that it occurred while the suitcase was in the care of your staff, either during loading or unloading. As a frequent traveller, I take great care to ensure my luggage is robust and secure. Therefore, I believe it is only fair that your company compensates me for the damage caused. I request a reimbursement for the cost of a new suitcase, as the current one can no longer be used effectively.
I trust that you will address this matter promptly and look forward to your response.
Yours faithfully,
