Model Example Answer

The conservation of wild animals is a topic of significant debate in the 21st century. Some people argue that wild animals no longer serve a purpose and that efforts to preserve them are a waste of money. However, this essay will argue that wild animals are essential to our ecosystems and that preserving them is a crucial investment in our planet’s future.

Firstly, wild animals play a vital role in maintaining the balance of ecosystems. Each species has a specific function, contributing to the stability and health of their habitats. For example, predators such as wolves control the population of herbivores like deer, preventing overgrazing and allowing vegetation to flourish. This, in turn, supports other species and maintains biodiversity. A well-known case is the reintroduction of wolves to Yellowstone National Park, which led to positive ecological changes, including the recovery of certain plant species and the return of other wildlife. Hence, preserving wild animals is not merely about saving individual species but about sustaining entire ecosystems.

Secondly, wild animals have significant scientific, educational, and cultural value. They are subjects of scientific research that can lead to medical and technological advancements. For instance, studies on frogs have contributed to the development of new antibiotics. Furthermore, wildlife conservation efforts can enhance education and raise awareness about environmental issues, fostering a sense of responsibility towards nature. Additionally, many cultures have deep connections with specific animals, and their loss would mean the erosion of cultural heritage. Therefore, the preservation of wild animals holds substantial benefits beyond their immediate ecological roles.

In conclusion, I strongly disagree with the opinion that wild animals have no use in the 21st century and that preserving them is a waste of money. Wild animals are crucial for maintaining ecological balance, advancing scientific research, and preserving cultural heritage. To ensure a sustainable future, it is imperative that we continue to invest in wildlife conservation and education, promoting a harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
