IELTS Speaking Part 2 Topic

Accommodation

Here are some of the questions asked and example answers:

1. Describe a hotel you have stayed in.

You should say:

  • Where the hotel is
  • Why you stayed at that particular hotel
  • Give details description of the hotel and the view from it

And explain what makes the hotel special.

Example Answer

So, let me tell you about this amazing hotel I stayed at in New York City. It’s right in the heart of Manhattan, smack dab in Times Square. Now, you might think, why would anyone willingly stay in the chaos of Times Square? Well, let me tell you, it was all about the experience.

See, I was in NYC for a short trip, and I wanted to be right in the middle of all the action. And what better place to experience the vibrancy and energy of the city than Times Square, right? Plus, the hotel itself had this reputation for being super swanky, so I figured, why not treat myself?

So, picture this: I walk into the lobby, and it’s like stepping into another world. The place is dripping with luxury – marble floors, crystal chandeliers, the whole nine yards. And the staff? Impeccable service, let me tell you. They made me feel like a VIP from the moment I walked through the door.

Now, let’s talk about the view. Oh man, it was something else. I lucked out and got a room on one of the higher floors, overlooking the entire Times Square. I’m talking panoramic views of all the bright lights, the iconic billboards, the hustle and bustle of the city below. It was like being in the middle of a movie scene.

But what really made this hotel special was the attention to detail. From the plush bedding to the fancy toiletries in the bathroom, everything was top-notch. And let’s not forget about the amenities – there was a swanky rooftop bar where you could sip cocktails while taking in the stunning city skyline.

And you know what? The hotel even had its own Broadway theater! That’s right, I didn’t even have to leave the building to catch a world-class show. It was like having the best of New York right at my fingertips.

So yeah, staying at that hotel was an experience I’ll never forget. It was like living in the lap of luxury right in the middle of the city that never sleeps.

2. Describe a house/ apartment that someone you know lives in.

Please say:

  • whose house/apartment this is
  • where the house/apartment is
  • what it looks like inside

and explain what you like or dislike about this person’s house/apartment.

Example Answer

So, Sarah’s house is located in a quaint suburban neighborhood just outside of the city. It’s a cozy two-story house with a charming red-brick exterior and a neatly manicured front lawn. From the outside, it exudes warmth and homeliness.

Now, stepping inside, you’re greeted with a cozy yet modern interior. The living room is spacious and flooded with natural light, thanks to large windows that overlook the backyard. Sarah has decorated the space with comfortable sofas, plush rugs, and tasteful artwork, creating a welcoming atmosphere perfect for relaxing or entertaining guests.

Adjacent to the living room is the kitchen, and let me tell you, it’s every chef’s dream. The sleek countertops, stainless steel appliances, and ample storage space make it a joy to cook in. Plus, there’s a cozy breakfast nook where Sarah enjoys her morning coffee while admiring the view of the backyard through the sliding glass doors.

Upstairs, there are three bedrooms, each uniquely decorated to reflect Sarah’s personality and interests. The master bedroom is spacious and airy, with a king-sized bed adorned with fluffy pillows and a luxurious ensuite bathroom complete with a Jacuzzi tub – pure bliss after a long day.

What I really love about Sarah’s house is how it feels like a true home. It’s filled with personal touches and little details that reflect her style and personality. From the family photos on the walls to the cozy reading nook in the corner of the living room, every inch of the space feels warm and inviting.

If I had to pick one thing I dislike about Sarah’s house, it would have to be the lack of outdoor space. While the backyard is neat and well-maintained, it’s on the smaller side, which can feel a bit cramped, especially during gatherings or BBQs.

Overall though, Sarah’s house is a beautiful and welcoming space that perfectly reflects her personality and style. It’s a place where you can’t help but feel at home from the moment you walk through the door.

Let me give you the inside scoop on my place—it’s a real gem nestled right in the heart of the city. I’ve been lucky enough to call it home for the past couple of years, and let me tell you, it’s been quite the adventure.

First off, let’s talk about the apartment itself. It’s got this cozy yet modern vibe that I just can’t get enough of. The living room is spacious and inviting, with plenty of room to stretch out and relax. The couch is like a big, squishy cloud, perfect for lounging around on lazy weekends. And don’t even get me started on the bedroom—it’s my own little oasis, with soft lighting and plush bedding that make it hard to get out of bed in the morning.

But what really sets this place apart is the location. It’s seriously unbeatable. I’m surrounded by all the best the city has to offer—trendy cafes, hip restaurants, boutique shops, you name it. And if I ever need to get away from the hustle and bustle, there’s a beautiful park just a few blocks away where I can escape for a bit of peace and quiet.

Plus, the building itself has some pretty sweet amenities. There’s a gym where I can work up a sweat, a rooftop terrace with stunning views of the city skyline, and even a cozy little coffee shop in the lobby where I can grab a latte on my way out the door.

Living here has been an absolute dream. It’s like having my own little slice of paradise right in the middle of the city. And let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like coming home to this cozy haven at the end of a long day. It’s my sanctuary, my retreat from the chaos of the outside world, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
